After investigation and checking, the office of the Ameer of Hizb-ut-Tahrir, Ataa' bin Khaleel Abu Rishteh, has announced that a valid sighting of the New Moon of Ramadhan has taken place for the year 1431 Hijri according to the Shari'ah requirements.

Based on this good news, the night of Tuesday 10th August 2010 is determined as the first night of Ramdhan, and our first fast commences on Wednesday 11th August 2010.

This is what the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم ordered us when he صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

"Whenever you sight the new moon (of the month of Ramadan) observe fast, and when you sight it (the new moon of Shawwal) break it, and if the sky is cloudy for you, then observe fast for thirty days." [Sahih Muslim. HADITH_No 2378. Narrated by Abu Hurayrah]
