The report entitled ‘Mapping the Global Muslim Population: A Report on the Size and Distribution of the World's Muslim Population’ was released Thursday. It revealed that Muslims make up 12,2 % of the country’s population, 10-15% of them are Shia Muslims.
Overall Muslims constitute about 5% of Europe’s population. It was also made clear that most European Muslims live in Eastern and Central Europe.
The country with the largest Muslim population in Europe is Russia, with more than 16 million Muslims, meaning that more than four in 10 European Muslims live in Russia.
